We cannot learn without discomfort. To learn how to learn, we must learn to improve our relationship with discomfort.
Feedback helps us learn, but feedback can generate discomfort. When we interpret feedback as judging us instead of what we did, we are more likely to reject feedback. We want to protect ourselves.
Resistance provides us safety from discomfort. Resistance is our armor. Resistance is our moat. Resistance is our security. Resistance tells us that change is dangerous—and that the status quo is acceptable.
