I currently run a solo online lifestyle business. It’s a daily fantasy sports analytics platform called Daily Fantasy Nerd. I built the site from scratch over three years ago and have grown a reliable customer base and revenue stream. There are some final touches to put on the business, but come winter, I will shift my focus to my startup life coach business while Daily Fantasy Nerd continues to generate solid income for another few years.
For now, I’ve decided to spend two hours of each work day training to become a startup life coach while the remaining hours will go to Daily Fantasy Nerd. It’s tough to motivate myself to work on the old when I’m excited about the new, but the motto I’ve come up with to address this is: “be a professional”. It means, finish what you started. I have many loyal customers and I owe it to them to bring the product to a reliable place before I move on to my new business.
Here’s my short term coach training plan:
- One blog post (might also be a podcast or video) a day sharing my thoughts and learnings
- One Quora post a day
- Complete Udemy Writing Course
- Complete Udemy Life Coaching Course
- Finish reading Walks of Life: A Step-by-Step Guide to Becoming a Life Coach
- Interview and commit to working with a life coach (gotta eat my own dog food!)
- Formulate a clear value proposition for the life coaching niche (startups) I plan to serve
